There is this option to take a taxi from Santa Cruz to Samaipata for 3 euro per person, so why not. Three of us decided to walk to the taxi place. Seemed to be close, wasn’t really. We walked and walked and almost got there. When we started to ask around where the taxi stop is, people looked at us kind of funny, maybe because there was a hugh sign behind us saying we’re in the right place.
Taxi driver decided to transport disco speakers so our bags ended up on the roof (it was raining). He also played us some bolivian music so we were jumping on a dirt road to it’s rhythm.
Samaipata welcomed us with cold and lack of hot shower. But still, it’s a great place to chill. And it’s a city of miracles as well. Lisa dreamed about pancakes with bananas and cinnamon and that was what she got for her breakfast. She also felt like brownie but what she had tasted like dust.
That beautiful village just few hours drive from Santa Cruz has some special things to offer.
One of them is the mystical pre-Inca site of El Furte that we’ve seen and been impressed by. Did you know that Spanish guys burned all Inka’s mummies! Egypt should be happy they still have some of those left. You can get plenty of information from the movie they show in museum. It’s about 20 years old but still interesting.
Second attraction – La Youngas – great jungle trekking, where I almost stepped into the bees’ cloud (gaining my third story how I almost died while backpacking). It was pretty scary cause we had to lie on the ground not to be attacked. We also didn’t take enough water (do not ever do it!). When myself and Clair were almost dehydrated we exchanged our sandwiches for a bit of liquid. Trekking took us few hours and was totally worth the effort.
